What is it?

Meditation is a simple practice of quieting the brain in order to rest and relax in an awake state. Yet, it is not always easy to achieve. Our mind is constantly engaged in a thinking process and easily affected by influences from outside. A guided meditation is led by a teacher's voice that helps the mind to steer clear off distractions and not to wander in an array of thoughts. During the session we use different techniques, such as mindful breathing, body scan, visualisations, progressive muscular relaxation and sound healing. We learn to observe without bringing out judgement. As the mind slows down all our systems reset and recuperate. Some emotions may arise and you might experience how your body is letting go of physical and emotional tension. Every experience is different and unique. Practicing meditation regularly helps improve the quality of life and well-being. Regardless of the occupation, gender or age, anyone can benefit from it. Some positive effects include improved self-control, tolerance, emotional awareness, enhanced ability to relate to others and one's self with kindness, acceptance and compassion. On physical level mindfulness helps to slow down heart rate, improves digestions and promotes better sleeping. It reduces anxiety and helps to avoid burnout.
